Vampire Diaries

So, Halloween is tomorrow… I am SO excited! I have no shame. Halloween is that one day out of the year when you can look like a complete freak and no one will judge you. I sort of feel like Cady in mean girls when she shows up to a Halloween party as an “ex wife” (bloody and scary) and everyone else looks a little scandalous. This was an interesting Halloween shoot to say the least. It was difficult to be scary behind the camera. But, it was a blast to collaborate with Chloe and Mallory. They are so much fun! I had a good time being a vampire, although I am definitely creeped out every time I look at the photos… But hey, that’s the goal, right? So, here is my easy as pie DIY vampire Halloween costume. Especially for a last minute costume, this one is perfect. You probably already have everything that you need, but here’s a list, just in case you don’t. Costume Essentials: Black Jeans Black Top (Preferably something with some texture. Mine is …

Ready, Set, Platinum!

That’s why her hair is so big, it’s full of secrets… The million dollar question: How do you do your hair? I have been asked a lot of questions about my hair, the color, how I style it, etc., so I have decided to create this novel of a post to share all of my hair secrets. Although, they never really ever were secrets… Anywho, I’m spilling the beans! First of all, to achieve the cool purple tint that I have finally accomplished, has been quite the process! I had been inching my way toward a platinum hairdo, for a long time before I finally got the end result that I wanted. Finally, (halleluiah) the heavens have opened and I have silvery toned hair! Why such a long journey? Well, because hair is fragile. The more bleach you throw on it, the more brittle, stretchy, and cotton candy like your hair becomes. You have to do things step by step, so that you don’t completely fry off your hair to the point where it falls out. …

Mad For Plaid

I’m addicted. I can’t get enough plaid! It just encompasses the spirit of the season, you know? I love a good ol’ plaid button up–always. But I am really diggin’ plaid patterns on other pieces too these days. Pants, skirts, dresses, blouses, cardigans–I love it all! Really, I feel like I could live in plaid. I could wear it from head to toe and be completely content. It makes me feel so festive! And since we are headed into such a festive season, I’ve added a few more essential plaid pieces to my wardrobe. Number one, a plaid blouse, and number two, a plaid cardigan, both from Viva La Jewels. These new favorites are just the beginning of my plaid overload. I have big plans for a festive wardrobe this season… You just wait. I have WAY more plaid coming at you. Shop my look: Plaid Blouse, Plaid Cardigan, Jeans, Booties, Wedges (similar), Bracelets

Comfy & Cozy

Now that fall is in full swing, I can let myself really get excited. I want to shout from the mountain tops about how much I love fall. Warm tea and apple cider, pumpkin flavored everything, cozy blankets and beanies, soft sweatshirts, holiday leggings, and of course a good book–it’s heaven! Fall is my absolute favorite. It just brings those warm, fuzzy feelings that make life so sweet. Just the thought of fall brings memories of fresh apple pie and pumpkin bread and I feel, well, comfy.         Comfort is on the very top of my list as far as clothing goes, because honestly, I am kind of a wuss. If it’s not comfortable, I won’t wear it. Plain and simple. Now, of course there are different levels of comfort, but my clothing has to meet a certain comfort threshold, if you will. Boy, oh boy did I hit the jackpot. This pullover from Cents of Style and these leggings from Whiteplum… I think I may have died and gone to heaven–they are SO SOFT! Everyone needs a …

Feelin’ A Fiesta

Okay, so I have randomly seen these little Mexican dresses pop up here and there and I am finally a proud owner! Typically they are more of a summer thing, but my creative side tempts me to break the rules a little. So, because we are making this transition into fall, I styled this dress a little differently. I paired it with a thick white button up, distressed jeans and fringe booties and I am really loving the look.         Short dresses are not really my thang, so like many times before, I have turned a dress into a tunic–it’s sort of my guilty pleasure. Plus, who doesn’t love some hand stitched embroidery? Personally, I am obsessed with embroidery (always) and of course vibrant colors for fall. The Little Tienda has a wonderful selection of adorable tops, dresses, skirts, bags and a variety of other accessories all hand made in Mexico. This shop has me one hundred percent captivated. The Dynamic Duo: Germany & Switzerland

All I want is to go back. Please? Take me back to the quaint towns rich with history and abundant with tall, green trees! I have to say, we went at the perfect time. Luck was on our side because throughout our entire trip the weather was absolutely perfect. We caught just a bit of rain at the end of our stay in Switzerland, but nothing too heavy and it didn’t bother us. I dream of going back. I can’t get over the details. The cobblestone roads, brick roofs, and brightly colored flowers hanging from each window. Both countries were so very charming–without a doubt two of the most gorgeous places that I have ever been.         In Germany, we visited Neuschwanstein, a little girl’s equivalent to a Cinderella castle. Although its history concerning King Ludwig II, did not have quite the fairytale ending, the structure does seem magical. Our drive to Neuschwanstein, which we thought would take two hours, but actually took four, was hands down the most beautiful drive–ever. The castle sits atop a …

That Sporty Thang

Remember when sporty clothes were definitely not flattering? Like, remember the 90’s? A neon jumpsuit that swishes with your every step doesn’t exactly say, “I’m a total babe”. It’s actually a bit horrifying. But these days, athletic clothes can make you feel cuter than actual clothes, plus they’re comfier. Consequently, we like to wear our workout clothes throughout our entire day.  And hey, you might “run” on a day when you’re wearing your sporty clothes, you just never know. Like when you need to race like a speed demon to your car as you exit a sketchy Walmart (am I the only one?).         Personally, I hope that this wearing workout gear all day trend doesn’t go away. I am just way too devoted to my comfort. Nike Roshes are my saving grace and my heart throbs over any athletic pullover. This new floral one that I have heart eyes for is from Hope Ave. It may not have necessarily been meant for an athletic look, usually their clothing identifies more with a bohemian look, like the chunky sweater …

The Need For Tees

After a whole lot of frustration, I finally recognized my dilemma. Let me explain. Obviously during the winter time we are all bundled up in layers upon layers of sweaters, beanies, and scarfs so that we don’t freeze to death (in Utah, you really feel like you might). But, once the cold front descends and the sun finally shines again, everyone is feeling all summery. And by “summery” I mean, everyone is ready to shed their layers of coats and put on a swimsuit. Adorable dresses are everywhere ready for you to bask in the sun, but do any of them have sleeves? No. And do I want shirts and dresses with sleeves? Yes. I’m not talking about long sleeves, I’m not a lunatic. All I want is a t-shirt sleeve, that’s all. It is next to impossible to find a cute dress or a t-shirt once summer hits. Everything is a tank top.         Not surprisingly, I end up having zero t-shirts or summer dresses in my closet and I sweat all summer long because …

Franco Sarto: Talkin’ Booties

I used to have a shoe problem. It’s fixed now, but I definitely used to have a shoe problem. A few years back, I finally came to the conclusion that I would rather spend a little extra on a pair of shoes and have them for numerous seasons, than buy cheap shoes and have to consistently replace them. I once was the girl who persistently bought cute, trendy pairs of cheap boots at the local shoe store in the mall. But, it was heartbreaking to be disappointed over and over again when the shoes only lasted for a few months. Let me tell you, those days are gone. It’s just too painful to fall in love with a pair of shoes and have to break up with them because they literally want to make you rip your feet off. Or, they are so worn out from one month of wear that they’ve acquired a series of uncomfortable holes. Quality time is my love language people. I want to spend valuable time with my shoes. I want them to …

Back To The Basics

The age old dilemma–my closet is full, but I have nothing to wear. Why is it we feel that way? After doing some fashionista introspection, here is what I came up with–we’re bored. We purchase a new item with one glorious outfit in mind. We think, “this shirt will look fabulous with my new jeans”, or “these heels will go with every dress I own” (not). We feel this rush of enthusiasm and desire to purchase whatever item it is and then, if you’re like me, you get home and it doesn’t quite go with that skirt the way that you had imagined. Or, maybe it matches perfectly, and you have discovered your new favorite outfit, which you then wear three times a week for two months (around different people of course) and soon you feel like you’ve over worn your beloved new shirt. Now where does it go? It gets shoved in the back of your closet with all of your other one hit wonders. Did you really wear out your new shirt? Probably …
