Back in Black

I’m a fan of whole black on black thang. It makes it so easy to incorporate other trends into your look and make them stand out. Here’s the thing about a monochromic look— You can make some killer kicks the focal point of your entire outfit. Yeah, baby! Shoe lovers over heeeeere! Suede booties are always fantastic, but these oxblood western style ones are super on trend for fall (I’m obsessed). I cradle these babies and tuck them in at night because they are just that good! Or, you might add some velvet kicks to your monochromic look, or some embroidered ones… OH! Or boots with some fab buckles! The possibilities are endless… Either way, with a black palette, you can feel comfortable wearing a pair of boots that may be a little more on the wilder side. Check out this post for the best boots to invest in for fall & winter. Although this look may appear well thought out, it is actually effortless to pull off. I literally have my hair in the same clip …

Easy DIY Couples Costumes

This post will be short because if you don’t have a costume yet, you’ll probably need all of the time you can get to make one 😉 I love homemade costumes– They’ve always been my favorite. Unless you want to spend a lot of money, costumes that are pre-made and ready to go, always seem a little cheap to me. There’s something about that thin, shiny material… One big bodysuit, just velcroed on the back. You know what I mean? Anyway, this year my husband and I decided to take a trip back in time and dress up as Bert and Mary Poppins for Halloween. I’m pretty excited! The great thing about this costume is that you probably have pretty much everything you need already, but if you don’t, I’ve linked it all below! I hope you have a fun (and safe) Halloween! And that you get your costume ready in time! Here’s everything you’ll need for Mary Poppins: And here’s everything you’ll need for Bert: There’s a few renditions of Bert and Mary costumes, but …

Getting Comfortable with Yourself

I’m an intensely emotional creature… I cry when I’m sad, angry, happy– You name it. My emotion usually comes in the form of tears– Good or bad. I take things to heart and I genuinely care, sometimes too much. I just can’t help it! Although I have at times wished that I wasn’t so emotional, I’ve learned that it drives me and makes me passionate. It helps me to care for other people and to identify with them. It’s a part of me that at times in my life, I have loathed. But now, as I mature into an adult (whoa, that’s weird) I’ve found that I need to stop suppressing certain characteristics about myself and start embracing them. I’ve honestly never had a lot of confidence… I didn’t even really realize how self conscious I was until this last year. The past few years have been a little crazy, for a lot of reasons, but they’ve made me realize one thing– You have to love yourself. Love your quirks, your talents, your fears and your …

Tassel Tunic

I’ve found myself already missing summer… The crazy storms lately are throwing off my vibes! The change of seasons can mean a lot of things… Prepping the house for winter, finally turning on the heat, and my hair + skin freak out a little. Shorts get put in the back of your closet and your puffer jackets come out. Let the layering games begin! Tassels were admittedly a summery trend, and now that it’s fall it’s time to adjust. You’ll still see tassels in fall, just maybe not as vibrant. The weather outside obviously wasn’t as frightful when I was sporting this tunic, but it could easily be paired with an oversized cardigan like these to rock the tassel trend and adjust for the cold front:     And because I’m still crazy for the tassel trend, here are a few of my favorite tassel accessory finds:     My full look:     Hope that your week is killin’ it! Bring on the tassels! xoxo, Karlee This tunic was gifted by Chic Wish. All …

The Pink Hair Guide

Pink hair! It’s so fun! To achieve your perfect shade, it will be a process, but a fun one I promise! I’ve listed pastel hair best practices, as well as products that you’ll need to keep your hair fresh and healthy. This post is looong overdue. I apologize that it has taken me so very long to publish, but now it’s here! 1. Start with platinum/white blonde hair. This is a delicate process… If you naturally have darker hair this must be taken in steps. Going platinum can really damage your hair, so you have to be careful. I’d suggest going to a hair dresser that specializes in bleaching, so that you can get the very best treatment and avoid as much damage as possible. 2. Add color to your conditioner. My killer hair dresser adds color to my deep conditioner for me so that every time I wash, I add some more color to my hair. It helps to both avoid as much fading as possible and to moisturize the hair. Bleached hair can get …
