5 Ways to Achieve a Dreamy (and affordable) Guest Bedroom

Having trouble putting together your guest bedroom? Fear not! I have 5 tips to ensure your guest bed is killer! 1. It should be a peaceful space. Neutrals are great for guest bedrooms because they’re naturally calming. Veer away from overwhelming colors as not to give your guests a headache. This doesn’t mean that you can’t have color, just use colors as accents, not your main source. Simple curtains and duvet covers are not only great solid pieces, but they’re generally less expensive than ornately detailed pieces.     2. Keep things cozy. Give your guest some blankets. Even if they don’t end up using them, as a guest it’s nice to feel like you have what you need and avoid any awkwardness in asking. Try a blanket basket. It’s cute annnd functional.     3. Try mixing a few different styles of decor. When you utilize more than one style, your guests are more likely to feel at home. When your guest room is too modern it can feel cold and uninviting. If it’s …

How to Make Your Half Bath Look Like A Million Bucks

As you already know, I’ve been decorating like a literal mad woman these days. Look out home stores, I’m coming for you! This week I’ve joined forces with the amazing Lemon and their wallpaper supplier Photowall to bring you the best looking half bathroom in all the land, and tips on how to do it yourself! 1. Pizazz-Up Your Walls A small half bath is the absolute perfect place to experiment with bold patterns and colors– Let your freak flag fly! Because it’s a small space, it can be a delicate balance between energizing your room with killer designs and overwhelming your guests with too much eye candy. Be careful not to overdo it with too many accessories. 2. More Foot Room Open things up a little bit, show your guests that you have a floor! Large, bulky cabinet sinks can be appealing for storage purposes, but a more petite choice like a pedestal sink adds much more floor space. When it comes to half baths, the need to not feel trapped, aka opening up some …

The Perfect Office & How to Achieve it

If there’s one space in your home that inspires you, it should be your office. It is where you work, after all… Where you formulate and perfect all of your killer #girlboss ideas! I’ve spent the last two months curating items for my office that inspire me and it’s finally finished! I’m a little like Goldilocks… Different pieces of furniture have come and gone until I felt that it was juuust right! And who knows, maybe I’ll make a few tweaks here and there (I probably will), but the important part is that the space feels like mine. After all of my decorating, I have a few tips on how to create an inspiring, uplifting, and positive space for yourself: 1. Be Bold. Decide what you want as a focal point in your space and build from there. I chose this killer Rifle Paper Co. wallpaper from Lavender Fields as my starting point and went from there. Every decor and furniture piece was carefully chosen after that as not to clash with the pretty pineapples. …

Furbish Studio Kitchen

I looove decorating, always have! I enjoy making a space feel like home. Taking the time to beautify a space, honestly makes me happier. When you are inspired by the rooms within your home, you’re much more likely to have a positive attitude— That’s my theory anyway. Luckily, to help me beautify my home, I stumbled upon an amazing and beautifully curated online hub for super affordable home decor items (I love finding those online gems!). Furbish Studio has some truly gorgeous items that I’m sure you’ll love just as much as I do. The kitchen is one space that if not decorated, can look really sterile. I’ve been really in to making our kitchen feel more homey and the items that I got from Furbish Studio helped make that process super easy! One of the most important things that I’ve tried to remember in decorating our home is that I want every space to feel warm and inviting. I chose these delicate blue geo bowls, the plates that I originally found are sold out, but these ones are super pretty, and …

Lulu & Georgia Overhaul

It’s been so invigorating for me over the last month to get to decorate our new home. I’ve always loved home decor (the entire process in decorating, really) so it’s honestly been a dream come true. Jono and I both feel very fortunate. We agree on most design choices, so he’s pretty much let me have the run of things, which has been so fun for me! Although you can see a warm, feminine touch throughout the various spaces of our home, I have tried to keep most spaces a little more gender neutral. I didn’t want Jono to feel like he was living in my home. It needs to feel like our home, because it is! With that being said, my office has been my opportunity to create a super feminine, bright, girly space. Bring on the pink! I knew that Lulu & Georgia would have the perfect decorative items for the space, so my office overhaul has been the perfect excuse to snag some pieces that I’d been eyeing for a while. Utilizing decorative …

Family Stitch

You know when you are awaiting a package and it’s like Christmas Day when it comes? You sit, you wait. It only takes about 5 days for it to get to you but it feels like 5 years?Yep, that’s what happened here. We’ve all been there. When the day finally came where I eagerly tore through the manila envelope-like packaging, I was absolutely floored. I couldn’t stop staring and to be honest, I still can’t. Truthfully, the first time I saw it, it brought a little tear to my eye. I know that my family of two (just my husband and I) is small right now, but when I look at it, it reminds me of how much I love him and that although there’s only two of us right now, we’ll have little mini-me’s running around soon enough. I cannot even express how much I adore this cross stitch and how much I appreciate the time and detail that went into creating it. It is something that I will hold dear, well, forever. So, needless to …

Holiday Party Time

I am one of those people that starts listening to Christmas music the second Halloween is over. A little ridiculous, I know, but it bring a joyous spirit that only comes around once a year. So, yes. When I am in my car I belt holiday tunes wherever I go (and Adele, because whoa. Girl gives me goosebumps every time). And yes, I look forward to every fancy holiday party and ugly sweater party alike. I could do without the teeth chattering cold, but it’s all part of the holiday experience, so I don’t really mind. The warm snuggles, the holiday parties, the freezing out in the cold to see Christmas lights, all of it–I love all of it. So, naturally, I LOVED being a part of this holiday collaboration. I have been so impressed with everyone involved. Jane.com was so generous to allow us to use their beautiful new facilities for our photo shoot. Let me just say, their kitchen is way better than mine… The Salted Sisters are amazing. 99% of the decorations you …

The Best Collage

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I still have to fantasize about my dream home–I don’t have it quite yet. Reality is that I am living in a (thankfully renovated) 1970’s rental. Although it works for my little family right now, it has us itching to own our own home. We don’t necessarily need more space at the moment, but like everyone else on the planet–we want it. If we plan to have little kiddos in the future (which we are) and we want those kiddos to have a bedroom to sleep in (which we do), this little rental won’t fit our family for much longer.         Don’t mistake what I am saying, we are SO thankful to have a roof over our heads, cars to drive, and food to eat, there’s no doubt about that. However, it can be difficult to see “everyone else” relishing in their shiny new car and grand, beautiful home. I understand that not “everyone else” has those things, but it can definitely feel like it sometimes. I have …
