All Things Floral

All Things Floral

Growing up I always loved fall, and I still do. The transition from summer to fall was difficult at times (because let’s be real, who wants summer to end?), but I always loved the spirit of excitement that came along with a new school year. When I think back on those summer to fall transitions in my life, I think of light drizzles and tall trees. I smell wet sidewalks and feel the anticipation of starting new classes. I imagine my first day of school outfit and how no matter how much time I spent on my hair, it would always get ruined because it usually rained (ugh). I remember driving around the neighborhood seeing countless different species of trees that each have a unique and beautiful way of changing throughout the season. Some still green and lush, others yellow, orange, and red, and yet others already wilted and brown. But with the new school year, as the leaves on the trees change color and wither, new friendships would begin to blossom.
Soon all color would fade and winter would begin. I do love the holiday season, however, winter has never been my favorite time of year–too much brown. As the winter passed, springtime would come and tulips would pop up from the ground. You could once more feel the sun and it was evident by the floral growth through town. Trees began to show signs of life and the grass would transform from its decayed brown back to its emerald green. When summer came, all vegetation would remain bright and lush until fall came again. I may be a bit sentimental, but I think that’s why I love floral patterns so much. It reminds me of fun times and the natural changes in life.
Fall is soon approaching again and although I am unsure if I am ready for it, that doesn’t stop it from coming. So, here’s to the start of a new season–jackets, lipstick and floral pants. As for summer, I’ll try to hold on a bit longer.
