Real talk– I’ve always have a secret (or not so secret) dream of having a massive library like the one from Beauty and the Beast… I love books!
It’s been a goal of mine to instill a love of learning and reading in little Jo. I’ve been buying books for her since I was barely prego and it’s not stopping any time soon. Needless to say she has a lot of books.
I’ve been reading to her every day since she was just a newborn and it’s become one of her favorite activities. After she wakes up in the morning and eats breakfast, she reaches toward her bookshelf for a book, which of course melts my heart!
Since reading has become such a big part of our routine, I wanted to compile a list of our faves that we read on repeat, both classics and fun new publications.
Giraffes Can’t Dance. I love this book because it talks about confidence and being different. It encourages kids to essentially march to the beat of their own drum despite what others might think. For sure one of my favorites.
The Pout-Pout Fish. This is such a fun read! It’s a clever rhyming book that teaches kids to make their own decisions about their attitude.
Bunny Roo I Love You. Darling! Such a sweet one! It illustrates that a mother loves her child no matter what.
Olivia. This one honestly makes me laugh. It’s about a fun-loving pig who can be a little wild at times. The illustrations are adorable.
The Little Engine That Could. A classic! I love this one because it encourages a can-do attitude even when you might be unsure of yourself.
The Napping House. The illustrations make this book. The writing and images build on each other which makes for a fun read.
Pig The Pug. When Jono and I first saw this book at the store, we laughed out loud reading it. It teaches kids to have a good attitude in a funny way. We also have Pig The Winner which is equally as fun!
Uni The Unicorn. I love this one because it inspires kids to have an imagination. Plus, it’s a fun play on reversing roles.
The Empty Pot. We actually have Jono’s childhood version of this book. It’s great. It teaches about the importance of honesty and the rewards of being honest.
Dear Zoo. This is a fun interactive one with flaps. Jo always likes to help lift the flaps to see what animal is underneath.
Moo, Baa, La La La. Definitely a fun one that helps kids learn animal sounds. It encourages speech as well!
I Like Myself. I really like this one because it encourages kids to have confidence and like themselves for who they are, not who others may want them to be.
Caps For Sale. This is a fun one mostly because of the monkeys. We like to act out what the monkeys are doing as we read which Jo thinks is pretty funny.
Someday. This book admittedly makes me cry every time I read it. Every dang time! It’s about a mother’s love.
The Little Red Hen. Another classic for sure. It teaches that if you aren’t willing to help, you won’t reap the rewards of hard work.
C is for Castle. I really like this one as an alphabet book. The illustrations are so cute. Plus, it’s a little different than what you’d traditionally imagine for an alphabet book!
(Here’s a perfect pinnable image for you so that you can save these book ideas^^)
I hope this post was helpful in navigating all of the children’s books that are out there! Happy reading!
xoxo,
Karlee
