Our Luxury DIY Master Bathroom Design

Our Luxury DIY Master Bathroom Design

If you’ve been following along, you know that we have been doing massive renovations and additions to our home. I have had so much fun designing each space, even though it has been a little tricky at times.

So here’s the scoop– We bought a craftsman style spec home five years ago. And while it’s not particularly old, there are many parts of our house that just aren’t necessarily our taste. So, as I’ve designed each space I’ve had to play a little balancing game— Staying true to the original craftsman feel of the home vs our big, fabulous dream home ideas.

Keeping in mind that this is not in fact our dream home, we had to carefully allocate our rather small renovation budget to fit the needs of our current space. Like I said, we are tackling a lot of projects, so we had to be precise! Most of our budget went the big stuff, like creating a fireplace from scratch (yes, it was just a bare wall before), a kitchen island, and we definitely didn’t want to skimp on our master bathroom!

I have always really wanted a luxurious master bathroom. I mean, who doesn’t? But with this master bathroom reno I wanted to go big. Big, but still within budget, of course 😉

I think it’s safe to say that I spent the most time designing the master bathroom with all of its gorg details.

Before you see the design, here is a before photo. Just to show you what we’re working with:

Not the ugliest bathroom in the world, but definitely not my taste. I give it a thumbs down for cheap fixtures and too much brown!

Here is the new design!

Ahhhh. Like a breath of breath air!

I went with a porcelain marble-looking tile for the main floor as well as the floor of the shower. It’s just such a classic look.

The reason we didn’t go with real marble is because we don’t want to deal with the upkeep of an actual marble stone floor (you have to seal it every year), plus, and this is huge, porcelain marble-look tile is much more budget friendly.

For the shower, we decided to go with a stunning gray ceramic tile. It’s truly drool worthy. I love the texture and glazed finish of the tile. Amazing!

Here are our exact tile choices:

We got all of our tile from Tilebar and I would 100% recommend them. They offer affordable samples (5 samples for only $5) and an enormous selection. Literally anything and everything that I’ve Pinterested for my dream home over the years I was able to find on Tilebar. Literally everything. I’m not even kidding!

Just an FYI– I would highly recommend getting samples before you start any tiling project. Don’t get me wrong, Tilebar has great photos, but there’s just something about seeing it in person you know? Save yourself the trouble and do the samples. I speak from experience!

As for the other details of the space…

I went with Rejuvenation for our knobs and pulls. They have a beautiful selection, but I will say that Rejuvenation can be a bit spendy. These are the most expensive knobs and pulls that we have in our house for sure. But since we didn’t have to buy very many, I went for it!

Here is what I ordered:

For our toilet paper holder, hand towel ring, and wall hooks, I went to good old Anthropologie. They tend to have more unique pieces than most. Here’s is what I got:

For our cabinets, we decided to go with the color “Rosemary” from Sherwin Williams. This is actually one area where we decided to save. Our original cabinets were white, but in great shape, so we decided to save some money and just paint them!

Well, that’s it for now!

Don’t forget to follow along on my Instagram @madamandrews + @theandrewsedit for design updates! And I’ll of course be posting a final design reveal here on my blog once this project is finished 😉

Stay tuned!

I was just seeking this information for some time. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, finally I got it in your site. I wonder what is the lack of Google strategy that do not rank this kind of informative sites in top of the list. Normally the top sites are full of garbage.

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is wonderful blog. An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.

I’ve been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.

You should take part in a contest for one of the best blogs on the web. I will recommend this site!
