We had a little mini vacay this last weekend, but we almost didn’t make it… I woke up Friday morning with the worst vertigo. I could barely open my eyes. My world was just spinning. It was terrible. Every time I sat up I puked so I had to just lay there helpless on my bed. The last time I felt that way I was prego (and I am not prego now). I’m so grateful that it cleared up (thank the heavens) or we definitely would not have been able to make it.
Friday. We wanted to do a nice fancy dinner for our anniversary and Republique was on a few must-eat lists that I had found so we decided to give it a try. Here’s the thing– It was very tasty, but also very expensive and the portions were pretty small. I had a pasta and Jono had the salmon which again were good, but after our meals and dessert (& 1 non-alcoholic drink that was $11?!?!) plus the tip the bill was $150. YIKES. Like, whaaaa? Way too expensive. Jono had to get a snack that night because he was still hungry. Although it was yummy, we won’t go back. It’s just not worth the price.
Saturday. We woke up and went to La Tropezienne for breakfast & it was AMAZING. Seriously SO good. Definitely one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had. Even the smell of the bakery walking in makes you drool. Everything we ate was delectable. The pastries were about $6ish each and worth every penny. On Saturday we also went to the Santa Monica Pier. We ate at Del Frisco’s Grille for dinner and it was delish! We had a fried chicken sandwich and ahi tuna tacos. I would def go back. As we were headed to the car I stepped in dog poop! Fresh dog poop. Ugh! I was so bugged. It was right in the middle of the sidewalk. I haaaate when people are irresponsible with their pets. Luckily I had some extra shoes in the car. That night we went to go see Crazy Rich Asians. It was really cute! I feel like movies are either action or borderline porn (I hate boobie movies) these days so it was refreshing to see a nice, clean romantic comedy. Don’t you feel like it’s rare?
Sunday. This day was reserved for Disneyland. Ahhh, the happiest place on Earth! At least for us, Disneyland is always magical. We accidentally showed up an hour before the park was open to the public, but since it was our anniversary they let us in early with all of the Disneyland Resort peeps which was so kind, and a perfect start to the day. Top tip– We downloaded the Disneyland app and did the Max Pass this time around and I would totally recommend it! The Max Pass is $10 a ticket, but it lets you get Fast Passes from your phone. We would get the Fast Passes via the app while we were waiting to get on rides so we always had another ride lined up once we got off of the one that we were waiting for. The park was packed but we didn’t wait longer than 20 minutes for any ride since we had the passes. It was life saver! We went on every ride that we wanted to go on and I am fo sho doing that every time now.
Monday. We slept in Monday morning which we legit hadn’t done in a looong time so that was a miracle in and of itself. We ended up taking things kinda slow the whole day. We honestly weren’t motivated to do much. We were just ready to get back home. We missed Jo SO much. We did end up going to a mall & we ate at Lemonade. I had the blueberry mint lemonade with a tuna poke bowl and Jono had the mango chicken bowl. It was pretty good! Coming through the door once we got home and snuggling her was the best thing ever though. She was excited to see us which made it that much better!
Well, that’s about it! Our long weekend in Cali! I’ll be headed to NY next week and then Paris a few weeks after that so it’ll be crazy town around here for a while. Wish me luck, ha!
xoxo,
Karlee
