Spring is here! And you know what that means…
New decor & projects!
I’ve been wanting to work on Harrison’s room for a while now and I decided to tackle, yet again, a project that I’d never done before…
Refinishing furniture!
I found these great vintage chairs and I knew as soon as I saw them that I had to bring them to life again. They were calling my name!
I’m not going to lie, they were in pretty rough shape. Like, layers and layers of stain and paint and dirt… Yikes.
Here’s what the chairs looked like when I purchased them:

As a first timer, I really didn’t know what I was in for. It took me 10+ hours to finish ONE CHAIR. No, I did not think it would take that long. But no, I don’t regret it!
Since there were so many layers that I had to strip from my chairs, as well as small details, the sanding is what took the longest.
After hours of sanding, here is what the chair looked like:
Quite the difference right?
Thankfully, the staining itself was actually pretty quick. I’m no expert on refinishing furniture, but I think it turned out pretty good! Not perfect, but not too bad for my first try!
What do you think?!
I was so pleased with the stain that I chose. I ended up using the color Jacobean from BEHR.
Now that the chair for Harrison’s room is done, I can focus on things like decor, paint colors and future shiplap plans!
I’ve narrowed it down to four options, but I’m still debating between a few moody colors. Here are the finalists from BEHR:
- Coney Island
- Poppyseed
- Calligraphy
- City rain

Here’s a round up of some of my favorite dressers and nightstands, storage, and vases as well as a new rug and picture frame that I snagged for Harrison’s room:
I’m really excited about how this space is coming together so far. And I can’t wait to share the progress with you!
Stay tuned!
