3 Career Changing Tips To Live By

I went to the Chloe Digital conference for Influencers in LA this last weekend and had so much fun! We flew in on Friday so we did the whole Beverly Hills thang. We took a few (necessary) pics at the Beverly Hills hotel and walked down Rodeo Drive for a while. I have to admit I found a few designer pieces that I will be saving my pennies for…

We then met up with my one of my high school bffs and she took us to the Soho House for dinner. I’ll admit, I didn’t even know that it was a thing, but apparently it’s a big deal. It’s a members only club and a place where celebrities frequent. We didn’t see anyone famous (dang it!) but we totally felt special being there!

Saturday was the conference, so we spent all day in downtown LA at the Hudson Loft. It was a pretty cute space! We decided to hit up T.J. Maxx and Nordstrom Rack after in an attempt to find some discount designer pieces. No such luck. Unfortunately things were pretty picked through.

But back to the conference– I really enjoyed the content that was shared and wanted to share it with you! There were 3 things that really stuck with me. Disclaimer– All these things are of course more easily said than done. But life is a work in progress! So here we go!

Don’t be afraid to start something no matter where you’re at. I wanted to start a blog a while before I actually started one, but I was afraid. Although I feel much more comfortable with it now, blogging was very out of my comfort zone when I started. I had no idea that it could take me where I am today, let alone be my career! If there is something that you really want to do, go for it! Chances are you’ll regret not starting sooner. I know I do! And I want to add that you shouldn’t be afraid to adapt either. This can be a really hard one for me. But being able to adapt is key, especially in this industry!

Create a manifesto and live by it. A manifesto is compiled of your mission which is the reason that you do what you do, your vision which are your aspirations for what you’d like to accomplish, and your values which is the how in the way that you want to get there. Having a manifesto can both help guide you on your journey and keep you accountable when times might get tough. I don’t currently feel like mine is strong enough, so I’ll be tweaking my own. I’ll be sharing it when I’ve finished! I’ll also add that you should revisit your manifesto once a month or so to make sure that you’re always on track.

Pay attention to the competition, but don’t let them dictate your path. It’s really easy, especially within the influencer industry, to play the comparing game. I know that I’ve been 100% guilty of it. For me, constantly comparing myself to others not only gets me feeling really crappy about myself, but it also takes away from where I want to be in my own career. When you start comparing yourself to others, you end up feeling like you need to be more like them. But their path is not your path! So pay attention to them, yes. Cheer them on even and appreciate their creativity. But don’t let them disrupt you doing you.

I honestly feel like these 3 points are good things to remember no matter what you’ve chosen as a career path. Maybe you’re a rockstar at all of these things, but I know that I for sure need to work on them.

Happy Monday! I wish you a wildly successful week!

xoxo,

Karlee
