5 Tips For Modernizing Your Space

Spring is just around the corner which means it’s the perfect time to clean and refresh your home. Sometimes your space just needs a little facelift ya know?

Our front sitting room needed some love baaad. It just looked real mismatched and even though it was clean it seemed closed up and uninviting. No thanks! So I decided to show it some much needed love & devotion with a modern influence.

As I was revamping & going through the whole process, 5 things stood out to me that I thought I would share.

Whether you’re doing a full on overhaul moving walls, splashing paint, and tap dancing on new flooring or just giving your furniture a refresh, there are some important tips to keep in mind so that it turns out just the way you want. You’ll want a balance of hey look at this room that just popped out of a magazine and this is my cozy home. You’ll want your space to look lived in, but not too lived in if you know what I mean.

Here are 5 tips to making your space perfection:

Keep it home-y. Have some photos of your loved ones. Show your company who actually lives in your home. Your friends want to see your pretty faces! Choose photos that you love, that evoke joy. Not only will it attract your peeps, but it’ll also make you happy too to see fun memories with your fam.

Pillows & blankets, girl. Get your cozy on. Make it look like someone can snuggle up in your space! I am a firm believer that throw pillows & blankets can absolutely help transform a space. They’ll help your room look warm & inviting. Like a nice place to take a nap.

Plants, plants, plants. Don’t underestimate the power of green! Even if they are fake, plants help to make a room look a little more alive. And if they are real– Way to go you! Yay for having a green thumb! I have either faux or real plants in every single room of my home.

Color palette. Decide on a palette and stick with it. If you have too many colors flying around, even if your room is tidy, it’ll feel unorganized and messy. There’s nothing wrong with having a colorful room, but pick colors that compliment each other & don’t stray too far!

Make it a space you love. You should love your space. You should feel proud of it. You should want to show it off! Purchase pieces that are meaningful and beautiful to you. If you really take pride in your space, it’ll show!

For our sitting room I wanted to keep things pretty neutral with white, black, and gray. You’ll see small pops of color through photos, books, and small decor pieces that help tie it all in. You can shop all of these pieces below!

Now get going! Show your space some loooove!
