6 Tips For A Comfortable & Modern Guest Room

Having a comfortable guest space can really make your guests feel welcomed, not to mention it can help ease any weariness that comes with traveling. Plus, if you’re like me and you love to decorate, putting together a guest space can actually be fun!

I’ve partnered with R.C. Willey to bring you 6 tips for creating a comfortable, warm, and modern guest room–

Cozy & Comfy– Always. There’s nothing worse than being a guest in someone’s rock hard bed with crusty old linens. Bleh. Obviously, make sure that all of your linens are fresh and clean. I like to keep a cozy duvet cover plus lots of extra blankets + pillows in the closet for my guests!

Generous drawer space. If they aren’t staying long, your guests won’t likely need a full dresser, but it’s nice to have at least a drawer (and if you have closet space too, that’s a plus). That’s why I love this piece. It has one big drawer on the bottom– Perfect for a guest. Although I opted for decor at the moment, I’ll probably swap out some of the more purely aesthetic pieces for baskets of toiletries, towels, etc. for when I do have guests.

Good reads don’t go unnoticed. Along with toiletries, you can use open shelf space for decorative items and BOOKS. I also wanted to have a cute magazine rack for more light reading. It’s nice for your guests to have the option to browse, even just in a magazine, before they go to bed if they need!

Keep it fresh & simple. This is honestly a hard one for me. I’m attracted to colors and patterns, so I often have to turn it waaay down. You can still play with colors, just within reason, aka pick a palette and stick to it. Fresh flowers are always amazing to have, but if you’re like me, you’ll just put faux greenery everywhere. Either is a win in my book!

Give them some sitting space. If you have enough space, it’s nice to have a little area for your guests to sit. Whether it’s to take off their shoes or just relax for a minute, they’ll likely appreciate a chair!

Help them feel at home. Think about the things that you use everyday and add some of that convenience into your guest space. Adding things like a wall mirror so your guests can get ready in their room or lamps for dimmed light can make a world of difference! You can also leave a note with your wifi password and customized snacks if you’re really feeling it!
