It has been my goal this summer to start branching out and testing new beauty/skincare products. Testing out new products is super daunting to me because my skin is so sensitive and tends to freak out at any sign of regimen change (bleh). However, letting my skin be a guinea pig this summer has not only helped me get to know my skin better, and what it needs, but I’ve actually found some super great products that I love!
As you may have noticed, the number of skincare companies utilizing probiotic technology is rapidly increasing. I swear I see something new about probiotic technology in skincare every time I walk into a beauty store. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, or how it would affect me, so I did a little research…
It’s no secret that probiotics, when ingested through foods such as yogurt, can have positive effects on the skin, so it makes sense that skincare companies are now taking advantage of this knowledge and applying those same principles to topical skincare products. It seems obvious, but I didn’t put it together at first.
I knew that there were health benefits, but I wasn’t exactly sure what they were… So, what are the health benefits of probiotics in skincare?
Well, studies show that probiotics are great for anti-aging, and also aid in skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, and eczema. Woohoo!
After reading up on all of the benefits that probiotics can offer your skin, I came across TULA, a skincare company that utilizes the ever so loved probiotic technology in all of their products.
First off, none of their products are tested on animals, so that’s a plus! And second, as I did more research on the brand, I found that they’ve been featured in magazines such as Elle for the best probiotic skincare products– Also a good sign.
For my little experiment, I decided to try three different products:
It’s a soft, clear gel cleanser that works to nourish and condition your skin. It’ve enjoyed it because it leaves my face feeling super clean and super soft. The probiotic technology helps to deep cleanse your pores and balance your complexion and I need all of the help I can get in those two departments.
This is probably my favorite product because while it does exfoliate, it’s extremely gentle. It’s made to peel away any dirt and debris on the surface of your skin (yes please) and it also helps to even out both your skin tone and texture.
I can definitely tell a difference with this product. There are a lot of masks out there that I really don’t like, but this one is gentle enough for my skin which has been really hard to find. It’s perfect because I can tell that it’s sloughing off my dead skin without any sort of weird burning sensation. I say no thanks to the burning. Freaks me out.
This product both repairs and prevents. With it’s anti-aging qualities, it helps to get rid of those nasty fine lines and wrinkles. It also improves your skin’s firmness and tone.
I use it mostly underneath and around my eyes because they tend to get dry and bumpy. It’s been really nice to help smooth out those areas. Plus, I feel like under my eyes, and around them, is where I’d like my skin to firm up.
I have yet to try it, but I’d really like to test out their Revitalizing Eye Cream and see which I like better.
I know that trying new products can be scary (trust me, I get it), but a little bit of probiotics may be what your skin is missing!
